Keeping your charger's own app
An OCPP charger talks to one service at a time, so pointing it at Sunplug normally silences your manufacturer's app. Sunplug can forward everything to them instead: sessions, cards and firmware updates keep working alongside solar tracking.
This was tested against the vendor specifications but isn't running for Sunplug customers yet. If you experience any issue setting it up, reach out to [email protected] and I will work with you to iron out any issue.
Do you need this?
Only if you use your manufacturer's app: RFID card lists, session history, warranty diagnostics and firmware updates live there. If you never open it, skip this page — Sunplug alone is simpler.
What Sunplug becomes
An OCPP local controller: your charger sees Sunplug as its central system, and your manufacturer sees Sunplug as your charger.
your charger → Sunplug → your manufacturer's cloud

solar tracking
Your manufacturer still decides whether a card works and numbers the sessions their app shows. Sunplug only adds the charging current, and never overrides a schedule set in their app without telling you.
The two things you need
Both come from whoever set your charger up on OCPP — you, your installer, or your current service.
1. Your current OCPP address
A WebSocket address starting ws:// or wss://. There
is no standard default: it belongs to the service your charger uses
now. Enter it without your charger's name on the end — Sunplug
appends that itself.
2. What your provider calls your charger
Usually its serial number, such as ZAP123456 — not its Sunplug
name. Their cloud refuses a charger under a name it does not know.
Where to find them
On the screen you use to point the charger at Sunplug. Note the values before you change anything.
Already repointed your charger without noting the old address? Ask your service provider — it is the same for all their customers.
If your charger will not show you
Some manufacturers hide OCPP settings behind an installer account, or show the field blank once set. Ask:
- Your installer — a routine request
- Your current service's support, for their connection address
If neither can help, you cannot use this feature. Sunplug still works on its own, without your manufacturer's app.
Turning it on
- Settings → Cars & chargers, find your charge point
- Turn on Keep your charger's own app
- Paste the address, the name your provider uses, and the key if there was one
- Save
It takes effect when your charger next reconnects, on its own within a minute or two. Sunplug will not drop a charging session to apply it.
What to expect afterwards
Your manufacturer's app works as normal, and Sunplug shows the live current. A schedule set in their app stays in place, and Sunplug tells you it is there.
The honest trade
Everything travels through Sunplug, so if Sunplug is down, your charger cannot reach your manufacturer either; it retries until something answers. If your manufacturer is down, local charging carries on — Sunplug answers for them and keeps following the sun.
When it does not work
Your manufacturer's app still shows the charger offline
Nearly always the name. Enter what they call it — the serial number,
not the sunplug- one.
It worked and then stopped
Some services rotate their keys or move address. Ask them for the current values.
Your schedule from their app is not happening
Sunplug sits above a manufacturer schedule to follow the sun. If you want their schedule to win, turn this feature off and point the charger back at them.
