Fronius

Fronius inverters answer on your own network — no account, no API key, no subscription.

Local setup

Install the Sunplug Agent on an always-on device on the same network as the inverter. It finds the inverter itself.

You need a Smart Meter

Without a Fronius Smart Meter at your supply point, the inverter reports production but not house consumption, so no surplus. The agent tells you which you have. No meter? Have one fitted, or add a Shelly meter.

When it does not work

"Solar API switched off" or "disabled by customer config"

GEN24 inverters ship with the local API off, and a factory reset turns it off again. The inverter's status page has no settings, and the icons on its right edge are not the menu.

  1. Open the inverter's web page. If asked, sign in as Customer with the password your installer set. No technician password is needed.
  2. Click the icon at the far left edge, halfway down. Choose Communication, then Solar API, and turn it on. Save.
  3. Run the agent's reading again.

No customer password? Your installer can reset it from the same menu, or Fronius support can from the serial number on the inverter's label.

The agent finds nothing

The machine is probably on a different network segment. Enter the inverter's address by hand on the setup page.

House consumption reads zero

The Smart Meter is missing or not commissioned. If Solar.web or the inverter's display shows no house consumption, Sunplug cannot see it either.

Import and export look reversed

The Smart Meter is fitted the wrong way round. Fronius' own display confirms it.
