go-e Charger

The friendliest charger Sunplug supports. go-e publish a local API that is on by default, needs no account, and answers in milliseconds. If someone asks which wallbox to buy for this, it is this one.

Local, or OCPP?

Both work. Local is better unless you have a reason otherwise: it is faster, needs no account, and leaves the go-e app fully working. Pointing the charger at Sunplug over OCPP instead would take it away from go-e's own cloud.

Connecting

  1. In the go-e app, check the local HTTP API is enabled — it is by default
  2. Note the charger's address, or let the agent find it
  3. Settings → Equipment → Chargers → go-e Charger
  4. Enter the address and check it works

How Sunplug drives it

It sets the current directly, in whole amps, as your surplus changes. Below the 6 A minimum it forces the charger off rather than trickling, and resumes when there is enough sun again — the amp setting is left alone so resuming does not start from the minimum.

On V3 and later hardware there is no wear concern from frequent changes — go-e moved that setting to memory designed for it. On older V2 units, changes are written more carefully.

When it does not work

Cannot reach it

Give the charger a fixed address on your router. Also check the local API is still enabled — a firmware update occasionally resets it.

It accepts the rate but the car does not follow

Some cars take a minute to respond to a change, and some ignore changes below a certain step. That is the car, not the charger.

Charging never starts

The charger may be in "force off" from a previous session. Check the go-e app shows it as ready.
