Ford

Sign in with your FordPass account and Sunplug sees how full the car is. The access Ford gives is read-only, so the current is set at your smart charger.

A Ford needs a smart charger

Nothing in Ford's access starts, stops or throttles charging. The current is set at an OCPP charger, a go-e or an Easee, as for every non-Tesla car.

A Ford on a plain socket cannot be managed at all, and Sunplug will say so.

Connecting the car

  1. Settings → Equipment → Cars → Add a car → Ford → Connect
  2. Sign in on Ford's own page and approve the access — Sunplug never sees your password
  3. Back in Sunplug, open Settings on the Cars card and tap Look for cars
  4. Say which of your cars the Ford is — it has to be one already on a charger Sunplug controls

One FordPass connection covers one Ford, so a household pairs one car for now; signing in again and approving a different Ford replaces the first. Set your home location too — Sunplug only manages a car that is at home.

When it does not work

The battery level is not moving

Ford is read every couple of minutes at most, not every second. While charging, Sunplug uses the charger for live power and the car for the battery level.

Sunplug will not manage the car

Two things are needed. The Ford has to be paired to a car on a smart charger: without one, Sunplug offers no pairing. And your home location has to be set: until it is, Sunplug leaves that car's charging alone.
