Volvo

One Volvo sign-in reads the car and controls a Volvo Wallbox. With another wallbox, Sunplug reads the car from Volvo and sets the current at your box.

A Volvo needs a smart charger

Volvo's API has no command that starts, stops or throttles charging. The current is set at a Volvo Wallbox, an OCPP charger, a go-e or an Easee, as for every non-Tesla car.

A Volvo on a plain socket cannot be managed at all, and Sunplug will say so.

Connecting the car

  1. Settings → Equipment → Cars → Volvo
  2. Sign in on Volvo's own page and approve the access
  3. Sunplug lists the cars on the account
  4. Say which charger each one uses — without it the car cannot be managed

Connecting a Volvo Wallbox

Same Volvo account as the car. It takes start, pause and a current limit. Turn off any scheduling in Volvo's app first, or the box's schedule quietly wins.

Signing in again every six months

Volvo approvals last six months at most; refreshing does not extend them. Sunplug warns you before one runs out, and you tap through the consent screen again.

When it does not work

The car shows a battery level that is not moving

Volvo's reading refreshes in minutes, not seconds. While charging, Sunplug uses the charger for live power and the car for the battery level.

Sunplug will not let me manage the car

A Volvo must be paired with a charger before it can be managed; without one, Sunplug refuses the setup.
